In collaboration with the Department of Creative Design and Fashion of DI.PA.E., the "Confucius Institute" of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki announces the launch of the "Made in China-中国制造" Project, consisting of three parts: "Hand-made," which involves the creation of 25 garments inspired by Chinese culture, "Custom-made," an interdisciplinary conference on Chinese culture, and "Tailor-made," an exhibition featuring the designed garments.
The conference titled 'Made in China-中国制造' will take place online on September 17-18, 2021, and will be complemented by a fashion show on September 16, as well as an exhibition of garments and designs at the Teloglion Foundation of Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in Thessaloniki.
With the starting point being Chinese culture and in the context of the "2021, Year of Culture and Tourism between Greece and China," the conference aims to foster productive reflection and creative dialogue regarding the role and significance of the principles governing modes of product production in China throughout the centuries. It will shed light on aspects of Chinese culture and tradition, as perceived by researchers from both the Western world and researchers of Chinese origin.
The clothing to be presented was designed and constructed by graduates of the Department of Creative Design and Fashion, School of Design at the International University of Greece (IUG).
