In Shanghai for the 70th anniversary celebrations of SISU University

The celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) in Shanghai, on December 7 and 8, 2019, were attended by the Director of the Confucius Institute (IC) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, President of the Department of Early Childhood Education and Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor Roula Tsokalidou, and her colleague at the IC, Athanasia Stamakou - Symakezi.
The Confucius Institute team at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki also attended the Forum of Presidents and representatives of the Universities of foreign countries cooperating with SISU.
Both the celebrations and the events were impressive and magnificent, and during them the opportunity was given for the representatives of the Foundations from all over the world to meet and exchange views.
Then, the team of Confucius Institute of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki attended, on December 9 and 10, 2019, in Changsha, the proceedings of "The 2019 International Chinese Language Education Conference", on Chinese Language Education in the World, which was attended by more than 167 countries and 3,000 delegates from all over the world.
The Conference was particularly important for the exchange of expertise on the issues of the good functioning of IS around the world, and the warm hospitality of the local authorities is worth mentioning.
In the framework of the Conference, the AUTH team attended the following forums:
- Innovative approaches to the development of Confucius Institutes in the world.
- Policies in Chinese Language Education in different countries.
- Teaching resources for Chinese Language Education in the era of artificial intelligence.
- Cooperation between organisations promoting Chinese Language Education
Evaluation of Confucius Institutes.
After attending SISU and the Conference on Teaching Chinese Language in the World, the IC team at the AUTH is optimistic about the positive development of the project at the AUTH.
It is noted that the Confucius Institute at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will start Chinese language courses in early 2020, while the official opening of the Institute at the Aristotle University is scheduled for the end of March 2020.
